Bio
A self-described romantic, Brett Szemple is pursuing his lifelong passion for photography by capturing decisive moments as a wedding photographer. He earned a BFA from New Jersey City University in 2006. He also attended the acclaimed Missouri School of Photojournalism Workshop. He continues to master his art and push the creative boundaries within several professional communities and organizations.
Underlying Brett’s artwork is his belief that photography sustains our memories and revitalizes our emotions, which keeps them alive. A great wedding photographer is an unobtrusive keen observer of people, one who sees subtlety and nuance, one that makes expressive heartfelt images while blending in seamlessly. Brett believes every wedding is a profoundly significant pivotal point, a time-honored ritual in the lives of two people. His approach cumulatively pieces together the magic of each moment to reflect the story of two lives brought together by love.
Brett’s creative fusion utilizes elements of photojournalism, fashion and traditional photography. His style is said to be contemporary, edgy, sophisticated, and dynamic with an editorial feel. His coverage is responsive and comprehensive. The imagery is distinctive, energetic, fun, spontaneous and timeless treasures. In his opinion these are the perfect combination for wedding photography; whether it’s an elaborate affair or an intimate cocktail party. My husband and I looked everywhere for a photographer for our wedding we finally found out about Brett. His work was beautiful and so creative and his prices amazing for his work. We live in Washington state, which is on the other side of the US from Brett, and he was willing to fly here for our wedding. Hearing horror stories of brides having their photographer never show up or never receiving their pictures, we were naturally scared that, 'what if he doesn't show up?'. Having Brett as our wedding photographer was the best decision we made for our wedding! He is very courteous, polite, and on time; he was at the wedding site before I was! MY WEDDING WIRE ENDORSEMENT: I had the honor of working with Rich (Hey Mr DJ) at an event I photographed for my Brides America Project.us project in San Jose, CA. Besides being an absolute gentleman, he knows music and his trade very well. In my opinion, it's extreme;y important for the person who is providing the music and entertainment to have a handle on the vibe of the guests. Rich did an outstanding job at reading the guests at this event and kept the festivities rolling. There was never a dull moment, as I suspect there never is at any event that he covers. I only wish that other DJ-MC vendors would strive to do what Rich what so effortlessly and eloquently accomplishes while simultaneously helping the client to enjoy their event to the maximum.

His work was beautiful and so creative and his prices amazing for his work. He made us both feel at ease & not nervous in the least. He also worked with us using our ideas & his to create one-of-a-kind photographs. Since we live on Long Island and have very hectic work schedules our contact was through phone calls and e-mail. Brett was on top of everything and always made sure to get back to us right away. Unlike all our other vendors Brett wasn't pushy, he didn't try to sell us every service under the sun. He gave us our options and made sure to explain everything step by step. He made sure to find out exactly what we wanted out of our photos. The day of the wedding his demeanor was so calming and unpretentious. He even jumped right in to help with the boutonnieres. My husband and I looked everywhere for a photographer for our wedding we finally found out about Brett. His work was beautiful and so creative and his prices amazing for his work. We live in Washington state, which is on the other side of the US from Brett, and he was willing to fly here for our wedding. Hearing horror stories of brides having their photographer never show up or never receiving their pictures, we were naturally scared that, 'what if he doesn't show up?'. We wrote Brett back and forth and asked questions and asked for references and in the end, we felt completely comfortable that he was legit.
Having Brett as our wedding photographer was the best decision we made for our wedding! He is very courteous, polite, and on time; he was at the wedding site before I was! He captured every moment and memory of our day; things I would have never even thought to get a picture of. A quote from one of our friends at the wedding "He was a mad shutter fool!" :)
He has such talent and is so creative in his work. His work is worth way more than what he asks. I recommend him to anyone since I know you won't be able to find a better photographer out there!

Brett travelled to Maine for my wedding this summer and was nothing short of AMAZING - snapping photos for 3 days (rehearsal dinner, wedding day, and day after shoot), not to mention it was like 100 degrees which didn't stop Brett one bit. He did not miss a single minute of our day, and we got thousands of pictures very shortly after the big day. I have friends and family members get engaged since our wedding who have asked for Brett's contact info - he made such a great impression on all of our guests. I would 100% hire Brett again in a heartbeat if I had it to do over. Couldn't have found a better photographer, hands down THE BEST!

Brett was absolutely AMAZING on my wedding day. He was very creative with the variety of shots he took. He also seemed to be everywhere! He was always in the background no matter where we were on the dance floor and was able to capture the most candid and entertaining action shots. He was able to capture so many “little moments” that we had with each other, as well as our family and friends throughout my entire wedding day. It was so fun to look back on the wide variety of pictures that were taken! Brett is an amazing professional, and we were MORE than pleased with his work. A friend referred Brett to us, and he far exceeded any expectations we had. We’ve also referred him to our friends, who will be utilizing his services at their wedding in June, 2010! A great quote from one of our guests was that Brett was “like paparazzi…he is somehow able to be everywhere & never miss a shot”! I recommend Brett to anyone, and I would challenge you to find someone better. He offers the best deal and high-quality work of anyone I’ve seen.
